Mindset Of Reaching Your Full Potential

I woke up this morning thinking about all the projects that are do for my business. Last night I went over my schedule for this week again. I felt a little overwhelm with deadline and meeting my target goals for this week. I came across this video of   B.J. Penn 1-0n-1 video with UFC about his big fight against Jon Fitch. As I was listening to his interview it touch my spirit in a graceful way. I’m sure your saying to yourself  how does UFC Fighting relate to my business or life. As I listen to the interview it take me back to when I first started learning about “Marketing” going through training programs that allow me to increase my knowledge and educations. It’s interesting when you take time to slow down with your life and business look in the back minor to see where you have come from. Then look in front of you to see where your going with your life.
The reality is you always have to be a student of your niche in order to reach your full potential. You don’t reach the top and think you know it all. With the fast growing of marketers online times have changed where people claim to be “Guru’s”. I’ve come to a place in my life where I want to continue to learn, partner with others, and share with those that have a burning desire to be Master marketers. B.J. Penn shares in this video how he took out time to learn from other Master trainer’s in boxing, boxers and Matt Hughes. This is a great example of reaching your full potential.
As a marketer are you will to do what it takes to be at the top of your game?  B.J. Penn has been in American mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In 2000, he became the first non-Brazilian winner of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the black-belt category.Penn is a former UFC Lightweight Champion and UFC Welterweight Champion and was a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 5 reality show. He became only the second fighter to win UFC titles in two different weight classes, after he won the lightweight title at UFC 80, having previously won the UFC’s Welterweight title from Matt Hughes at UFC 46.
What are you willing to do to reach your full potential?

  1. Hi Charles,
You made several good points in this post. I used to have a mentor who always said, ‘School is never out for the pro’ and your writing reinforced that. One of the most exciting things about online marketing, and marketing in general, is that things are constantly changing. I love that because I get bored easily. But those changes require us to find people of integrity and vision to work with and learn from. In addition to that we have to be committed to doing whatever it takes to grow our skills so that we can grow our businesses.
    Take care, Allegra

  2. The feeling of being overwhelmed is one I can certainly relate to! Gavin’s scheduling and routines ideas are helping.

Keeping the end in sight is so very important, isn’t it? It’s easy to get bogged down in all the details, but if we can keep the goal in sight, then the details have a place to “fit.”

And as far as staying on top of things and studying our niche, I hadn’t thought about that before, but you’re right. The internet is moving so fast, as is language and the way people understand. Unless we keep up with both niche and internet, we’ll lose our edge.

    Thanks for the thoughts!

  3. I’m a big UFC fan, but not necessarily a B.J. Penn fan. The key message in this clip for me is to continuously be seeking out the knowledge from people who have experience and success in the area that you want to excel in. It’s what we do with that knowledge that makes the difference. We can learn from successful people until we know all of the secrets to success, but unless we implement that knowledge it is useless.

Your article really hits home with me. I am working in a field (SEO) that changes daily. To say you know it all is just foolish. I do love learning on a daily basis. I do appreciate your article. check me out sometime and we can learn from each others. Thanks again for a thoughtful and well written post. Ross Joyner

You drive a great point Allen. Any type of intensive training such as UFC is a way of becoming focused on reaching your goals. I too like to connect with others and keep building relationships. I don’t actually consider myself a Guru at all but just Me being Steven Dean; who is out there trying to make a honest living. I too love the UFC shows myself. Been a while since Ive seen it on SPIKE Tv. But every once in a while I will kick back and relax and see what’s on the Tube. Thanks for sharing

  7. Charles,
Thanks for sharing this inspirational video. It’s all in the mindset. It’s about setting the intention and then following through. In working with couples, I’ve had many that SAY they are willing to do “whatever it takes” yet they don’t follow through with their actions. We HAVE to put in the work if we want to be successful.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  8. Being a student is first and foremost. I’m growing my speaking and leadership skills at Toastmaster. And I’m masterminding with leaders and colleagues. It sounds like we are traveling the same road. Nice to be going in the same direction with you.
